So, Let's talk at what we can change about THAT site... I remarked that the homepage is kind of annoyingly ugly and almost unuseful. Please change that. Anthing else to say?

How would you recommend changing it?

Get rid of the scrolling text at the top.
Switch to CSS.
Have you tried the checklists at www.webpagesthatsuck.com ?
And what does KMFMS stand for anyway?

There's a FAQ entry on that.

Thanks for your suggestions. I do agree that a switch to CSS would be a good step.

It's kind of funny that an anti-Microsoft site is using the marquee tag, which is a proprietary HTML tag created by Microsoft.

That tag is only being used here to show content in Internet Explorer which might not otherwise work. The same content is shown in other browsers using a separate mechanism, so it isn't as if the marquee tag is being indiscriminately sent to everyone. The point being, there is a difference between unwittingly using proprietary Microsoft tags which is likely to break functionality for others and using them to add compatibility for Internet Explorer to something which already works in other browsers.

For the KMFMS mail service, why not add a CAPTCHA? It will prevent spammers and keep the mail service free!

The mail service might have actually had a CAPTCHA when it was free - I'm not sure. It wouldn't have helped the problem that occurred, unfortunately. The problem wasn't with spammers signing up for too many accounts, it was that they were using free accounts as the "reply-to" address for their spam, sent from other servers.

Maybe you should try reCAPTCHA.

The problem which occurred could not have been addressed with a CAPTCHA, even one that was 100% perfect. Using a better one (e.g., reCAPTCHA) wouldn't have made a difference as the scammers weren't using KMFMS related servers.
