I also recommend gmail, but you have to be invited to register
And I also recommend Kubuntu (better than ubuntu as it uses KDE instead of Gnome)

If I recall correctly, Google opened gmail up to everyone just a few weeks ago. You no longer need to be invited.

Well I prefer KDE to, currently using Kubuntu, but erm I don't really have a favorite distro, because under the hood it's all the same anyway, just GNU + Linux Wink

Today some M$ shill wrote a comment on a blog, that "Linux" is outdated, gray and has a lack of eyecandy. So I gave him a link to a recent article of my new blog.

http://osgeex.blogspot.com/2007/07/and-winner-is-kubuntu.html

Still waiting for the dude to react, No eyecandy (yeah right) Rolling Eyes

What I really like is that Thunderbird 2.0 supports Gmail, so you are able to use the mail and newsclient for your Gmail account, so you don't have to use the web based interface any longer, if you prefer Thunderbird.

Anyway, I 'm using GNU/Linux and other Free OS'es since 1998 now, had for quit some years dualboot systems, but came in 2006 to the conclusion that Windoze was obsolete.

Yeeha, at last 100% Microsoft free Very Happy

Actually today gmail is open for everyone.... but there all kind of forums
that will not accept you as a member if you are using a free mail
host.
